Ph.D Pnina Shirav

Bio sketch:
teaches in-service education summer courses to teachers of Hebrew as a Second Language at the Hebrew College, located in Newton, MA (near Boston), as part of the NETA program to teach Hebrew language and literature in schools in the U.S., Russia and other countries. Dr. Shirav teaches other in-service education courses and is developing an online course in literary interpretation for gifted students within the framework of Tel Aviv University's Youths Appreciate Science program. In the past she has served as the staff coordinator for curriculum development in the Ministry of Education's Planning and Development branch and later, as an inspector in the same branch. Within this framework, she coordinated curriculum development committees for junior high and high schools. Her research and interests focus upon curricula and didactics of secondary school literature instruction, testology of literary concepts, interdisciplinary instruction, teaching teachers, feminist reading and criticism of literary texts. Dr. Shirav Aher Ph.D. in Hebrew literature from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem in 1995.
