Associate Professor and Gordon Brown Chair in Social Work in the Paul Baerwald School of Social Work and Social Welfare at The Hebrew University of Jerusalem. His main areas of academic and professional interest are violence against women; child abuse and neglect; the Arab family in transition and change; the implications of children's and youths' exposure to community and political violence, resiliency factors that mitigate those implications, and the socio-cultural and socio-political contexts of the education and practice of the mental health professions.Prof. Haj-Yahia received his Ph.D. in social work from the University of Minnesota in 1991.
