Professor and head of the Computer Sciences Department at the Ben-Gurion University of the Negev. Socially active and involved in various projects and organizations working for the development of education within the Arab community in the Negev. Serves as head of the Academic Association for the Development of Arab Community in the Negev (Ahed) and member of the steering committee for Expanding Accessibility to Higher Education for the Arab Community at the Council for Higher Education. His many research studies deal with image processing, computer graphics, document image analysis, and augmented reality. He applies various machine learning algorithms in his research. Holds a PhD in computer sciences from State University of New York at Stony Brook, received in 1999.
