Prof Avi Asor

Bio sketch: Professor in the Educational and School Psychology Program
of the Education Department at Ben-Gurion University. He conducts research in
the areas of parenting style, parental characteristics and children’s
tendencies of temperament as factors influencing the nature of their
internalization of parents’ expectations and values; promoting learning
motivation and consideration of others in school and in the family; the effects
of close parental supervision and support of autonomy during adolescence on
risk behaviors, violence and criminality; conditioning parental love and its
effects on parent-child relations and the formation of an internal compass as a
basic component of autonomous functioning.
He holds a PhD in psychology from Michigan State University
(US), received in 1981.
