Prof. Zehavit Gross

Bio sketch:
Professor, School of Education, Bar-Ilan University, where she heads the specialization in Management and Development in Informal Education Systems. She holds the UNESCO Chair in Education for Human Values, Tolerance Democracy and Peace, heads the Sal Van Gelder Center for Holocaust Instruction and Research, and is the head of the Special Interest Group for Religious Education at the American Educational Research Association (AERA). In addition to these roles, she serves as an honorary research associate at the University of Sydney, a research fellow at The Hebrew University’s Truman Institute, and is chairperson of the World Council of Comparative Education Societies (WCCES).
She is an expert in teaching the Holocaust in non-Jewish schools. Her research focuses on transforming Holocaust education into an integral part of education for peace, values and human rights, education to oppose racism and xenophobia, and creation of a global civic identity.
She holds a PhD degree in education from Bar-Ilan University, received in 1999.
