Member, Working group: Common Foundations for Non-Formal Education

Bio sketch:
Directs the Social, Community, Student and Youth Division at the Ministry of Education’s Society and Youth Administration. He is responsible for informal education within schools, civil society and local authorities. He is also a member of the Ministry’s Education Prize committee and within that capacity seeks to ensure informal education is included as one of the criteria for receipt of the prize. He previously served as chairperson of the student council, was a representative in the Society and Youth Division in the Petach Tikva municipality, and was also an elected city official. Within the framework of these roles he was in charge of informal education in the city for the areas of youth, sports, and community coordinators. In addition, he established the Network of Community Coordinators of Informal Education at the Petach Tikvah Community Centers, which operates all the informal education activities for children, youth and adults in the areas of sports, culture, and welfare in Petach Tikvah. Moreover, he was active in promoting legislation to require youth units, student councils and youth authorities to hire managers which, ultimately compelled local authorities to appoint a full-time manager for youth units.
He holds a BA degree from Beit Berl College and an MA degree from Bar-Ilan University – both in the field of social-community education and informal education. Likewise, he holds a senior instructor’s certificate in informal education.
