Professor of philosophy at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem.
In 2005-2008 she served as director of the Center for the Study of Rationality. In the 2008/9 academic year she was the head of the School of Education. Prof. Ulmann-Margalit was a research fellow at a variety of universities and institutes of advanced studies in Europe and the United States. Since 1997 she has been a member of the Council of the Open University of Israel.
Her research addresses analytical philosophy, social, political and legal philosophy, philosophy of action and practical reasoning, philosophy of science and decision-making.
She holds a Ph.D. in philosophy from Oxford University, 1973.

Prof. Edna Ullmann-Margalit was a member of the Initiative's steering committee from the winter of 2009 and until her death in the fall of 2010.
