In 1990, he was appointed to head the Joseph Kasierer Institute for Research in Accounting, which is part of the Faculty of Management at the Leon Recanati Business School. Prof. Swary has written many books and articles in the field of banking, mergers and acquisitions and financial deregulation. He established his own accounting firm, Itzhak Swary and Co., which handles accounting, economics, law, financing, computer and information systems, taxation and the capital markets.

He was a member of the Initiative for Applied Education Research steering committee.
