Prof Shoshana Blum-Kulka

Bio sketch:
Professor Emeritus in the Department of Communication and Journalism and the School of Education at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. Her main research interests are discourse analysis, developmental pragmatics and language education. She has headed curriculum committees for teaching Hebrew as first and second language. She has published numerous books and articles on translation, cross-cultural communication, family discourse, media discourse, and pragmatic language development and is currently conducting an ongoing longitudinal study tracking the development of Israeli preschoolers' and pre-adolescents' genres of literate discourse in their first and second languages. Prof. Blum-Kulka received her Ph.D. in Hebrew linguistics from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem in 1974.
